‘The animal rights group Peta has written to the co-founders of Ben & Jerry’s asking them to replace the cow’s milk used in their ice cream with breast milk.’ (Written by Sarah Hills, http://www.foodnavigator-usa.com)

In view of this SABR is writing to Peta:

We invite Peta to visit Africa and a species in extinction the ‘human infant’ before making mediocre attempts at publicity stunts. We suppose that the human infant is in no way as intriguing and exciting to save, but should be endangered further by suggesting that the dairy industry exploit one of the rarest resources that promote infant survival: mothers-own-milk.

These feeble attempts at publicity can be made from the comfort of your offices not from the incubator side of a premature, HIV exposed infant weighing a mere 550 grams, suffering of NEC induced by artificial feeds. But please! Help yourselves to his breastmilk, maybe even donated breastmilk, and use it for the ice cream that once again you will be eating from the comfort of your offices. Come and see a bloated tummy, gangrenous and dying and a mother watching her infant take his last breath.

Why not exploit the mother living in poverty and buy her breastmilk so that the dairy industry can make healthy ice cream, maybe cheese. How exciting.

Breastmilk is very versatile and yes it has wide medical use, any takers amongst the pharmaceutical companies? Does Peta have any suggestion for first world use of breastmilk, maybe a way in which we can exploit Africa. For example a black market for breastmilk where pregnant women in their last trimester are snatched of the street, hooked onto breast pumps, their infants killed, all for the highest bidder. Why did we not think of this before?

Come spend a day with us stare death in the eyes, maybe not the big brown eyes of a calf, and then make ludicrous, oh so funny… suggestions.

Can we help you? Why not ban dairy products all together? The same dairy that causes daily mortality and morbidity in over 3000 formula fed infants globally? Maybe you would not have a reason to exist?

Lets kill babies to save calves, the logic is flawless! We hope that this got you a lot of good publicity and that your blog was busy, you obviously needed it as you are fresh out of good ideas.

Well done Peta, thank you!!! Thank you for being mindful of other peoples work and for the invaluable contribution your mockery has made to infant survival.

Here is an idea how about human milk for calves!!! Brilliant
